RPR Renegade squads sweep all four weekend conference games

Both Reed Point Renegade basketball squads kicked the new year off in convincing fashion, sweeping weekend games.
GIRLS
The Lady Renegades hosted the Custer-Hysham Rebels Friday, capturing its first win with a 45-39 score.
RPR ended the first quarter with an 11-7 lead, both teams added seven points in the second quarter giving the Renegades an 18-14 lead at halftime. In a close third quarter, RPR added 12 points to Custer-Hysham’s 11, maintaining the RPR lead 30-26 going into the final quarter.
The Rebels held the Renegades to just six points in the fourth and came back at the end of regulation to tie the game at 26, sending it into overtime. RPR rallied back in OT and held the Rebels to three points while adding nine points to win.
Junior Brooke Krieger led with a huge 29 points while freshman Destiny Ayers added five.
RPR’s second win was Saturday against the Fromberg-Belfry Falcons. RPR took the lead early ending the first quarter 17-6. The Renegades added to that lead in the second with 21 points to the Falcons eight, holding a strong 38-14 lead at halftime.
The second half was much like the first with the Renegades putting up 29 points to Fromberg-Belfry’s 20 giving.
Krieger delivered another strong performance with 23 points while Ayers had 19. Freshman Nynah Bryant posted 10 points.
This week the Renegades will host the Roberts Rockets in Rapelje on Friday and will travel to Lavina on Saturday to take on the Broadview/Lavina Pirates.
BOYS
In similar fashion to their female counterparts, the RPR boys’ squad swept both conference games last weekend.
Friday night’s win was against the Custer-Hysham Rebels with a final score of 69-48. RPR had a slim 3- point lead at the end of the first quarter and the teams remained close in the second, with a halftime score of 31-27.
The teams remained close in the third quarter with the Renegades maintaining the lead 50-40. RPR turned it up in the fourth, adding 19 while holding the Rebels to just eight points.
Cade Bare and Trevor Herzog accounted for 49 points between them, with Bare posting 26 and Herzog recording 23 points.
Saturday’s win came against the Fromberg-Belfry Falcons. RPR led at the end of the first quarter 17-12 and continued to add to that lead in the second, adding 13 points to the Falcons nine, taking a 30-21 lead at halftime. The Renegades finished the second half of the game 25-15 giving them a 55-36 win.
Bare led again with 23 points while Dylan Blodgett added 11.
This week the Renegades will host Roberts in Rapelje on Friday, on Saturday they will travel to Lavina to play the Broadview-Lavina Pirates.
