Raville is solo placer at state

An injury prevented Billy Raville from placing higher at the Class B-C state wresting tournament at MetraPark in Billings on Feb. 13.
The Absarokee senior placed sixth at 152 pounds, Columbus-Absarokee head coach Mike Moodry said.
“Billy made it to the semifinals and then lost to Travis Takenhorst from Shepherd,” Moodry said. “He then tore the meniscus in his consolation semifinal and injury defaulted for 5th and 6th.”
Columbus freshman Dylan Raihl made it to Saturday’s rounds at 126 pounds and finished one match out of placing, Moodry said.
Other matches were won by Columbus sophomore Nate Goddard at 126 pounds and Columbus junior Dustin Stepper at 205 pounds.
The Couguskies came in 27th of 40 teams at the state meet with 18 points. Colstrip took first place with 211.5 points. Moodry expressed optimism about next year’s co-op wrestling team.
“I appreciate the leadership and guidance given to our younger wrestlers by seniors Michael Sherwood, Marc Dorendorf and Billy Raville,” Moodry said. “Good news for next year – six of the nine qualifiers will be back.”
