The Lady Panthers went up by 10 points early Friday night against the Reed Point-Rapelje Renegades.
It went something like this: Panther Shelby Kluth tipped the ball to MacKinzie Verke who hit Shelby Branstetter going in for a layup to start the night. That was followed by a defensive rebound from Shelby McMillen that was converted into a basket from Tehya Ray.
Branstetter put in another 4 while Verke stole the ball and scored yet again. RPR answered with a 3-point from Carlee Blodgett. The Panthers lead 10-7 after the first quarter. Branstetter began the second quarter with 3 points from a layup and free throw. However, RPR continued to hustle and take it to the hoop, keeping within 4 points at the half.
Verke had some key offensive rebounds and steals in the third quarter to keep the Panthers on a roll. The fourth quarter started with the Panthers up by 7 and the Renegades out of answers. Even though it seemed like there was a lid on the Panthers basket — only shooting 47 percent — the team was able to create turnovers and convert into a 14-4 run for a final score of 51-34.
Verke not only led all scorers with 16, but led in rebounds and assists.
Saturday night the Lady Panthers took on the Robert Rockets. The Panthers jumped out to a 23-5 lead and never looked back. Ray, Kluth and Branstetter had 13 points each to lead the Panthers to a 63-20 win.
The previous weekend, Park City downed the Plenty Coups Warriors 56-37 and the Fromberg Falcons 66-32.
