All eight Panther defenders crowd the line in their Oct. 1 Homecoming game against Lone Peak.

Panthers defeat Big Horns, 66-50

High scoring Homecoming

The Panthers and the Lone Peak Big Horns put up a combined 116 points on the scoreboard at the Park City Homecoming football game on Oct. 1.
“The game was a fun game to be a part of,” Park City head coach Mark Rathbun said. “We had some adversity early in the game with some turnovers and giving up some big plays. The players responded well in the second half and worked together for the win.”
Park City came back from a 32-20 deficit at the half to score 46 points in the second half while holding Lone Peak to 18.
The Panthers rushed for 325 total yards, with senior Brandon Flemmer scoring on runs of 65, 25 and 60 yards.
Park City senior quarterback Tucker Zuhoski passed for 109 yards and three touchdowns, including a 13-yard reception by sophomore Connor McNeil, a 15-yard reception by senior Devon Dennis and a 10-yard reception by junior Rylan Gauthier.
Dennis also returned two interceptions for touchdowns, including one for 75 yards near the end of the game. McNeil punched in a 2-yard TD run, and senior Jordan Neves scored on a 5-yard run.
“The offense did a nice job blocking and running the ball, and the special teams play was a big turning point in the game,” Rathbun said.
Lone Peak senior quarterback Eddie Starz threw for 347 yards and five touchdowns. Junior Liam Germain caught all five TD passes. Starz also scored on two short-yardage plays. Lone Peak had 124 yards rushing.
Next up for the 4-2 Panthers is a game in Ennis against the 6-0 Mustangs on Friday, Oct. 7.
The Friday, Oct. 14, home game against Shields Valley will be both senior night and “Pink Night” to raise awareness about breast cancer, so spectators are encouraged to wear something pink to the game.
