Lady Panthers beat J-Hawks

The Park City Lady Panthers opened the hoops season with a win against the Joliet J-Hawks, with three Panthers hitting double-digit scoring.
Sophomore Tehya Ray led with 14 points, followed by senior Morgan Popp and junior Cara Grewell with 12 each for the 38-47 win.
“When we have three in double figures it’s gonna be a win for the Lady Panthers, said Coach Jason Federico. “We made 15 of 21 free throws and out-rebounded them by 10 or more boards.”
The squad played without junior Hailee Gregerson who was ill and got into foul trouble, but figured things out, said Federico.
The following night, with Gergerson back, the starting five Panthers were ready to battle Red Lodge.
“They played 2-3 zone the entire game and our girls showed amazing patience executing our zone offenses and we hit threes and made precision passes to the open spots,” said Federico. “When you exchange baskets and compete with the program and team like that it’s going to be a good game.”
Red Lodge won 45-35. Popp had 10 points, Grewell had seven and Gregerson had six.
Federico said he was proud that his team stayed in the hunt for all four quarters.
