House wins home tourney

Stillwater Golf Course hosted the Cougar’s annual varsity golf meet Saturday April 25 Ten schools were represented with 41 boys and 26 girls participating.
Tana House defended her home course by again placing first among the girls with a score of 82. Tana won by one stroke over Hanna Walter from Huntley Project. This has been a great competition for the past two years. Olivia Hess carded a 114, Bailey Johannes 115, and Dani Hoover had a best season score of 117. The girls’ team finished in third behind Forsyth and Huntley.
Ryland Stampfel placed seventh for the boys’ squad with a round of 80. Chaz Krone finished 10th with 83, followed by Erik Howell 102, Colton Wells 103, and Braden Marjerison 110. Shayne Stadel shot a 91 as the extra player for the Cougars. The boys’ team placed sixth for the meet.
The JV boys played in their final match of the year at Roundup on Wednesday April 22. It was a very short season for our JV team as two of their meets were cancelled due to the weather. Ruben Steinfort, an exchange student from the Netherlands, was the Cougar leader with a nine hole score of 53. Jacob Wells and Shayne Stadel were close behind with a 54 followed by Ben Plymale 68 and Tyler Reed 71. Nate Goddard was unavailable due to a four wheeler accident.
Both Varsity teams will be concentrating on this week’s only meet at Roundup on Wednesday. The divisional meet is scheduled Monday May 4 at the Pryor Creek Course in Huntley. Both teams are vying for one of the top four spots at the divisional meet which will qualify them for the State meet the following week. The top 15 individuals placing at divisionals can also qualify for the state meet.
The Boys State Tournament will be held at Eagle Rock Golf Course in Shepherd and the girl’s meet will be held at Pryor Creek Golf Course in Huntley.
