House wins divisional title, headed to state

Columbus High School golfer Tana House notched another first place round at the divisional meet with a solid 77.
House led her team mates to a fourth place finish and a ticket to the state meet. Bailey Johannes finished in 14th place with a score of 113. Olivia Hess 117 and Dani Hoover 121 also contributed to the team’s finishing.
Shayne Stadel jumped to the front of the scoring for the Cougar Boys with a round of 83 which placed him sixth individually. Ryland Stampfel and Chaz Krone tied with 87 and Stampfel won a scorecard playoff for seventh place and Krone in eighth. Erik Howell 103 and Braden Marjerison 113 rounded out the individual scores for the boys’ team.
The Cougar boys brought home second place hardware for their efforts.
The State Class B Golf Tournaments are scheduled for May 12 and 13th. The girls will play at Pryor Creek and the boys will play at Eagle Rock.
End of Regular Season
The regular season was in the books as of April 29 with the Cougars traveling to Roundup. This meet was a good preview of the divisional meet with nine out of 10 teams in our division participating.
The boys were led by Ryland Stampfel’s fourth place finish with a score of 78. Stampfel made the turn with an even part 36 for the highlight of his round. Chaz Krone finished with 91, Erik Howell 103, and Braden Marjerison 106. The team placed fifth overall with a score of 378, 13 strokes behind fourth place Red Lodge.
Tana House placed eighth individually with a 96. Bailey Johannes followed with 114, Olivia Hess 117, and Dani Hoover 129 rounded out the Cougar scores. The girls also placed 5th for the day with a team score of 456.
