Cougars rout Three Forks

Girls lose 4th straight game

Kiefer McKay scored 24 points – many on fast-break layups off long passes from fellow senior Tanner Osborne – and the Columbus Cougars used a 20-1 scoring blitz to open the second half to pound Three Forks 72-48.
Osborne added 18 and Ryland Stampfel chipped in 14 in the non-conference win.
The Cougars were on the other end of a streak in Friday’s game at Laurel, as the Locomotives outscored Columbus 19-9 in the fourth quarter to erase a 3-point Columbus lead and defeat the Cougars 41-34. Osborne’s 16 led Columbus.
The Columbus girls have been plagued by a sputtering offense all year and never more so than the weekend’s games, where the Cougars managed only 28 points in non-conference losses to Laurel and Three Forks.
Adding injury to insult, the team has lost senior guard Tana House for the season due to a knee injury suffered in the Jan. 16 Shepherd game.
Both Cougar teams travel to non-conference foe Big Timber on Friday and then resume 4B district play with a home game Saturday against Joliet.
