RODEO RECOGNITION
The Columbus Rodeo Families in cooperation with the Columbus Schools recognized bull rider Clay Haverland for his achievements. Haverland competes in both fall and spring Montana High School Rodeo Association events. During his first year, Haverland earned a place at the state finals in Baker. After competing in 16 rodeos this past fall, Haverland had earned 59 points out of a possible 70 points – ranking him fourth in the state. The spring rodeo season starts up at the end of March 2017 and concludes in June. Columbus High School principal George McKay said at the awards presentation that although rodeo is not a sanctioned school sport, the school felt it was important to recognize Haverland’s accomplishment’s as he had met a set of standards and academic requirements required by the MHSRA. Haverland was presented with a rodeo letter for meeting the requirements of the association.
