Absarokee athlete continues to raise money for Australian event

Absarokee High School senior Lauren Milliken is holding a rummage sale fundraiser March 26 to help her generate the money needed to attend the Down Under Games in Australia in July.
The international event is open to student athletes from 14 to 19 who are recruited by Down Sports employees and coaches. Milliken is a 3-sport athlete who received an invitation to participate last year.
The Down Under Games is a product of Down Under Sports, which was created in 1989 to “bridge the cultural and educational gaps with people of other lands,” according to the group’s website.
The rummage sale, along with a pancake breakfast, will run from 7 a.m. until noon at Skip's Place in Absarokee. For more information on the rummage sale or the pancake breakfast contact Heather Milliken at (406)333-6052.

Track
Last year was a breakthrough season on the track for Milliken. She ran the 3200 meter race, the 1600 meter race, and the 800 meter race throughout the season as well as running on the 400 by 400 meter relay team.
She ran the 6C Districts and placed first in both the 1600 meter and 3200 second in the
3200 meter races at the Southern C Divisional track meet.
At the state meet she placed 11th of 19 in the 3200 meter and 14th of 20 in the 1600 meter race. In an effort to stay in running shape over the summer she trained for and completed the Montana Half Marathon in Billings in September. Lauren has her sight on the Absarokee record for the 3200 meter race for her senior year track season.
At the Down Under Games Milliken will compete in both the 1600 meter and 3200 meter distances.
