11 Cougars headed to state

Eleven Columbus High School Cougars are headed to the state Class B track and field meet this Thursday through Saturday in Kalispell.
Weston Wagner will compete in both the shot put and discus, Noah Daniels in the long jump, Jack Gray in the high jump and Michael Jacobson in the 110 high hurdles. Kyla Rouane qualified in both the pole vault and high jump, Kenedy Wiggs in the pole vault and Camyrn Ault in the pole vault.
Also making the trip will be the boys’ 400 relay of Preston Fink, Gray, Ryan Koski and Daniels, as well as the 1600 relay of Padon Little, Daniels, Jacobson and Gray. Randal Davis is going as an alternate on the 1600 relay.
Columbus Track Coach Judy Martin explains that this year, Class B schools went to qualifying standards which allows althletes to advance to state by hitting specific marks, or placing in the top eight at the divisional meet. Daniels, Wagner and Rouane advanced to the state by hitting those qualifying standards.
