Jeff Bermes

Bermes named as new Columbus superintendent

Jeff Bermes has been selected as the new superintendent for Columbus Public Schools.
Bermes will replace outgoing superintendent Alan Sipes effective July 1. He was formally approved by the Board of Trustees at the Feb. 10 board meeting.
“I would just like to thank all of the staff and board for their input and participation in the selection,” Board Chairman Joe Morse said. “I am looking forward to a smooth transition process.”
Bermes currently lives in Roberts and has served as superintendent of Joliet Public Schools since 2010. Prior to Joliet, Bermes was superintendent of Roberts Public Schools. He previously taught elementary school in Broadview.
