Bridger – Wilma Jean Shupak (nee Zaputil), 85, formerly of Absarokee, died peacefully on Jan. 5, 2017, in the presence of her family.
Wilma was born Sept. 23, 1931 in Red Lodge, Mont., to Vid and Mary Zaputil. She lived her young life in Red Lodge and graduated from Carbon County High School. After high school, she went to work at the telephone company. She married Tom Shupak June 22, 1963. They raised two sons and one daughter.
Wilma and Tom made their home in the Belfry area before settling in Absarokee in 1973. Wilma received lifelong joy being around children and worked as the school secretary at Absarokee Elementary before retiring after 24 years. Sadly, her husband passed away Sept. 18, 2007. Her last several years were spent in and around Bridger. She worked with her son, Steve, at the Bridger Antique Store.
Wilma is survived by her children, Tom (Deb) Shupak of Billings, Steve Shupak of Bridger and Carol (Keith) Feist of Livingston. She has two grandsons, Jeremy Shupak of Billings and Kaycee Feist of Livingston, of whom she was very proud. She is also survived by sister-in-laws Eunice Pierce and Evelyn Harrington, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends she loved.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Tom and her brothers Bill and Louie.
Memorial Mass will be Saturday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bridger. Family and friends who wish to join us for a private recital of the Rosary may do so before mass at 10 a.m.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Livingston Hospice Care. The kindness and gentle care provided, and extended to all of us was instrumental in making the end of our journey with Mom more peaceful.
Condolences may be sent to the family at 484 Fawn Place, Billings, MT 59102.
