Shubert

MISSOULA – Betty Lou Shubert, 77, of Missoula passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on Aug. 12, 1939, in Two Harbors, Minn., to Mildred and Freddie Udenberg. In 1947 her family loaded up a panel wagon and headed out west, settling in Roscoe.
That same year her father rented a shack in Absarokee where her parents started the Hamburger Hut Café. The family ran the café for 29 years before Betty took it over and continued to run it for another 25 years.
Following her retirement Mom moved to Missoula where she worked at Little Dreamers Day Care. Afterwards, she started caring for a couple of little girls who she thought so much of.
Mom also walked the neighborhood treating dogs to treats (with owner’s permission), as well as feeding feral cats.
She was a member of NOTRA, Cobblestone Preservation and the VFW.
Betty is survived by her children Janet Doquisa of Absarokee, Lori Kohlman of Missoula and David Shubert of Pueblo, Colorado; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Delance (Cody) Udenberg & Freddie Udenberg Jr.; her parents Mildred and Freddie Udenberg.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 437 N. Surrey in Missoula. A second service will be held on Saturday May 20, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Absarokee.
She will be dearly missed.
