Helen A. Kirchner, 96 joined her Lord and Clarence Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at the Beartooth Manor in Columbus, Mont.
Helen was born Sept. 23, 1920, to Frank and Marie Hofmann in Worden, Mont. She was one of 10 children.
Helen came to Rapelje in 1941 as a teacher at the Rapelje Public School. It was here that she met and married Clarence Kirchner.
They settled on a farm south of Rapelje where they lived and loved the land for the remainder of their lives, they were married 63 years. From this union two children were born, Patricia and David. She was a homemaker, put in a large garden every summer, and spent hours crocheting afghans and doilies.
She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years and a member of the Rapelje Church.
Helen spent the last seven years in Beartooth Manor in Columbus. There she was active in playing Pinochle and Bingo. She was well loved there by the staff.
Survivors include Pat Zweber, Gillette, Wyo., and David Kirchner (Michaelle) of Rapelje, a sister, Elsie Dalke of Billings, Mont., two grandchildren, Lisa Bispo and Aaron Kirchner, four great­ grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She also had numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are to be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Rapelje Evangelical Church. Final resting place will be in the Rapelje Cemetery, with a luncheon and fellowship following at the church. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Rapelje Church or charities of your choice.
