Haworth

Steven Duane Haworth lost the fight with cancer and began his new adventure on March 1, 2017, when he joined his Mom, Dad, brother Ross, and many family and friends on the other side of the veil. His older brother and Savior Jesus Christ received him with open arms.

Steve was born on May 25, 1952, to William Harry Haworth and Marian Mary Manning, along with his older brothers Ross, Bob, and Don. About a year later, his younger sister Barb joined the family. The family lived in Rapelje, Mont., until about the time Steve started elementary school, then the family moved to Columbus. Barb and Steve were especially close, being only a year apart. Steve enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. He excelled in football in high school, where he played linebacker and running back.

After high school, he joined the Army, where he spent two years deployed in Germany as a dispatcher for the motor pool. Upon coming home, he worked in Yellowstone National Park where he met and married Debbie DeShazo. Soon afterward, Cameron Duane was born. Debbie already had two boys, Jerry Lee and Jason Donald, who Steve raised as his own. He was a good dad to his young boys, and taught them to love sports, hunting and fishing, along with being kind to everyone.

He had the gift of being the life of the party wherever he went. Over the last several years, Steve’s health declined, and Cameron was his caretaker. Cameron and his dad were extremely close, and Steve commented that Cameron was his “closest friend,” and he wouldn’t know what he would do without him.

Steve is survived by his sons, Cameron (Regina) Haworth of Dillon, Mont.; Jerry (Angie) Saari of Chudiak, Alaska; Jason (Mindy) Saari of Grantsville, Utah; along with his brother Bob (Barb) Dilworth of Billings, Mont.; Don (Judy) Dilworth of Baker, Mont.; and sister Barb (Sven) Svenson of Reed Point, Mont. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren – including Steven Donald Haworth, who is his name sake – and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a service to celebrate his life on Friday, March 17, 2017, at 6 p.m., at the Evangelical Church in Reed Point, Mont. The church is located at 15 South Park Street.
