Goar

Arbutus Annette Parmenter Terrel Goar was born on April 21, 1930, to Anna Elizabeth Thompson and John Harold Parmenter. She was named after the state flower of Wisconsin, where her mother was born. However, her nickname has been “Boots” since she was a little girl.
She was the oldest of 10 children: Henry “Hank” (Vern), Harold (Betty), Jessie (Tom), Charles, Leonard, Gary (Charlene), Richard, Edna (Ray), and Leila (Al).
Boots stayed with her grandparents on their ranch south of Reed Point. Growing up, she was more like sisters with her aunts, especially Letty, Rose, and Lillian.
In high school, Boots met and fell in love with Charles “Bud” William Terrel. On Sept. 27, 1947, they eloped by flagging down a Sweetheart bread man, and riding with him to Billings where they were married. They had seven children: Dwight (Joyce), Larry (Patti), Leonard, Bill (Amia), Joe (Kim), Neal (Elaine) and Leanna (Calvin).
After Bud’s death, Boots married Johnny Richmond Goar on Nov. 27, 1975. John was the love of her life and showed her the world from the windshield of a semi. They had one furry child, their dog Wickett. John passed away on Sept. 18, 1997.
Arbutus Annette Parmenter, “Boots” to all that knew her, lived a satisfying life. She was no stranger to pain and tragedy, but she always looked at the brighter side of life, moving on with courage and faith and her infectious laugh. She was hard-headed, stubborn, fiercely loyal, and don’t forget ornery. She was a daughter, wife, mother, sister, and, and most important – friend.
Boots ~ mother to seven, grandmother of 24, with numerous great and great great grandchildren, and aunt to many.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Reed Point Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Reed Point Evangelical Church.
