Bokma

March 17, 1935 – Jan. 3, 2017

On January 3, 2017, William Rogers Bokma passed on due to heart problems near his home in Columbus, Mont. Bill was born March 17, 1935, in Columbus.

He graduated from Columbus High School, then in a few years joined the Army and was stationed 18 months on a base in Ingrandes, France.

As a youth, he spent time working on his parents’ ranch on Keyser Creek, north of Columbus. His parents were C.R. and Evelyn (Wimsett) Bokma.

After returning from the service, he married his friend and sweetheart, Frances Bare, whom he met in high school.

Bill worked many jobs in and around Columbus. His joy was building things and using his John Deere tractor.

He was a good father and husband, and tried his best for all. He had two children – Trinkia (Lester) Hoagland and Rodger (Amy) Bokma; five grandchildren – Malyna (Danny) Leuthold, Brady Hoagland, Thomas, Matthew, and Tyler Bokma; two great-grandchildren – Cade and Trey Leuthold; and mourned the loss of a set of twins. Two brothers, George Bokma and Cornelius “Hap” (Eve) Bokma, survive.

A memorial service is planned for the 26th of May at Columbus Evangelical Church in Columbus at 11 a.m. A private committal service for family and a luncheon will follow the memorial service.
