Some folks in Columbus are getting very serious about scaring the heck out of Halloween lovers with the “Nightmare on Main Street” haunted house above the New Atlas Bar.
The house will be open on Oct. 21 and 22 and then again on Oct. 28 and 29 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. above the Atlas Bar at 528 East Pike Avenue, which has its own separate entry to the east of the Atlas, meaning patrons do not enter through the bar, said organizer Jill Exner.
The recommended age is 10 and older and the entry fee is $5 per person.
“We plan to have it be a bit milder in the first hour and then geared a little scarier for the remaining hours,” said Exner.
Actors are being hired and Judy Ruprecht submitted the contest of naming the haunted house. Other entries included The Dead Zoo, Satan’s Saloon, The Atlas Asylum, House of Shrills and Halloween Canteen.
All proceeds will got to the Stillwater Legacy Trails, Brews & Boos, Apocalypse at the Atlas

STILLWATER LEGACY TRAILS
Stillwater Legacy Trails is a non-profit group with a mission of connecting the communities in Stillwater County with safe walking/riding trails one mile at a time. It’s going to take money to reach that goal and the group is embracing that reality head-on with the slogan of putting the “fun” into funding walking/biking paths throughout the entire county through community-based events.
Through a combination of fundraising and grants, the group is aiming to further a portion of the trail every two years.
A membership drive is currently underway, with family memberships at $25, single memberships at $15 and business memberships at $50. The is the first of three or four community-minded fun fundraising events the group plans to hold throughout the year.
