Caleb Overhuls was flown to a Denver hospital last week to begin immediate treatment for leukemia.

Columbus boy in fight for life

A 5-year-old Columbus boy was flown to Denver last week after being diagnosed with leukemia.
Caleb Overhuls had been ill for approximately four months with what was believed to be the Epstein–Barr virus, said his aunt Janet Overhuls.
Caleb was flown from the Billings Clinic to Denver for treatment. His mother, Candi Overhuls, flew with him. His father Stacey will join the family soon.
Caleb will have to remain in Denver for at least a month. The treatment plan is three years and while some of it can be handled in Billings, more trips to Denver will be necessary.
The family does not have insurance. An account has been established at all First Interstate Bank locations under the name “Caleb Overhuls Leukemia Fund.” A GoFundMe site is also up, which as of Monday morning, had generated more than $6,000 in just four days.
Janet Overhuls said that while GoFundMe is a “great” tool, that company takes a small percentage of each donation. She encourages people who want to donate to do so directly to any First Interstate Bank.
She also said the family is very thankful for the support that they have already received.
