Absarokee accident victim identified

The Absarokee woman killed in a weekend crash has been identified as Lashae Danielle Wilcox.
The 30-year-old was the only occupant in the 2003 SUV, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled several times, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Barbara Armstrong.
Investigators believe Wilcox was traveling west on Highway 420 (West Grove Street), failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the right side of the road. The SUV then went down an embankment, hit a large tree limb and rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof, said Armstrong.
Speed was a factor in the crash and alcohol is suspected to be involved, said Armstrong. The accident remains under investigation.
Wilcox died of blunt force trauma, said Stillwater County Coroner Terry Nystul.
The accident was discovered at 8:08 a.m. Sunday morning when someone reported a white SUV on its top two houses west of the Rosebud Creek off West Grove Street, according to Stillwater County Sheriff's Office dispatch records. The caller then returned to the scene and discovered Wilcox unresponsive. MHP, deputies and the Absarokee ambulance responded to the scene and summoned the coroner. Deputies then notified family members.
