Living the Dream
More than 100 people turned out last Saturday for the Third Annual Nate DeBruycker Living the Dream 5K Fun Run/Walk in Columbus.
Winning the 13 and under age group were Trey Stampfel and RaiLeigh Strommen. Josh Spainhower and Tanisha Ordahl won the 14 to 35 age group. And Darin Baldwin and Heather Milliken took honors in the 36 to 68 age group.
The event is held in memory of Nate DeBruycker, a Columbus High School standout athlete who was tragically killed three summers ago in a motorcycle accident. The DeBruycker family has turned part of their grief into a mission to help others in need through college scholarships and accident related medical expenses. To date, the family has given out more than $10,000 to 21 families, as well as donated $3,500 to the Forever Loved Memorial Garden in Columbus. Half of the proceeds of this year’s run will be donated to the Stillwater Youth Center.
