Thompson

N. Louise Thompson was born on Feb. 2, 1934, in Louisiana, Miss., to Edna and Walter Bennington. She passed away at her home in Reed Point on Feb. 21, 2018.
Louise moved north of Reed Point as a young girl with her mother, step-father Harry Wood, and her younger sister Shirley. While going to school there, she met Gene Thompson. They married on Dec. 2, 1949. Together they moved to Las Vegas, Nev., and raised their five children for 15 years. Louise became a beautician while in Las Vegas.
The family returned home to Montana. She enjoyed square dancing, painting pictures, deep-sea fishing, digging for sapphires, golfing, and spending time with family. She was happiest while traveling all over the U.S. with her husband in their RV. She made the sewer project in Reed Point and was the chairman. She enjoyed being a “Snowbird” with Gene and after Gene passed away after 53 wonderful years of marriage, she would go to Arizona every winter. She had many friends there and enjoyed the warm weather and golfing. That’s where she found her love Chuck Summers. They spent 10 years together before he passed away. Louise was a loving and forgiving person. She opened her home and her heart to anyone who needed it and were always considered family.
She was preceded in death by her mother Edna, step-father Harry Wood, her father Walter, sister Shirley, and husband Gene.
Louise is survived by her five children Neva Thompson, Nick (Laura) Thompson, Keith Thompson, Mark Thompson, and Amia (Bill) Thompson, a son-in-law Joe (Krista) Gruger, a wonderful friend Erika Gehrken, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Louise’s memorial will be held at the Reed Point Evangelical Church on Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. A reception will follow. A burial of her ashes will take place in the spring. Smith Chapel of Laurel is handling arrangements.
