White Christmas very likely

It could very well be a white Christmas in Stillwater County Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Billings (NWS), the forecast as of Monday called for a 70 percent chance of snow and a high of 31 degrees, a low of 12 degrees and the potential for several inches of snow, as a cold front moves into the region.
There is also a 70 percent chance of rain or snow on Christmas Eve night.
Friday and the weekend will stay chilly with highs reaching the upper 20s and lows in the teens.
Strong southwest winds were expected to arrive Tuesday and last through Wednesday, with strong cross winds from Livingston to Nye. Those with travel plans are encouraged to monitor road conditions.
December Weather
The first 21 days of December ran warmer than normally, with a daily average temperature of 31.4 degrees. Normal is 24.8 degrees, according to the NWS. The average daily high was 43.3 degrees compared to the normal reading of 37.8 degrees. And the average daily low was 19.5 degrees, compared to the normal 11.9 degrees.
Snowfall through Dec. 21 in Columbus was 1.2 inches. The normal amount is 5.7 inches.
