Relay Team Dot/Dan hits $3,000 goal
Team Dot/Dan is serious about raising money for the 2015 Relay for Life event this summer.
Less than three months into the effort, the team hit -- and surpassed -- it’s $3,000 goal last week, bring its total amount collected to $3,573.06.
That puts the team third out of 109 teams registered for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event in Billings this summer. The team is back just $280 from the second place team of St. John’s and Friends and approximately $730 ahead of the fourth place team of the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office.
The team has no plans to sit back and rest, but instead set a new goal of $5,000.
Although the team has collection buckets and cups located in several area businesses, the majority of money raised has come from door-to-door efforts. Future fundraisers include a bake sale, car wash and sale of luminaries and receipts are available for all donations for tax purposes. Once the event is done, Team Dot/Dan Caption Frankie Edwards will receive a list from the American Cancer Society telling her exactly where the money went.
The team is comprised of Columbus IGA employees and family members and is named in memory of Chris Remond’s son, Dan Gladney, and Marko Fangsrud wife, Dorothy, both of whom passed away in the last year to cancer. Edwards is a cancer survivor and with Green has been participating in the world-wide event for the past three years. This year’s theme is “Calling All Angels.”
