Relay for Life team within shot of goal

The Columbus Team Dot/Dan Relay for Life Team is inching ever closer to its new goal.
As of Thursday, May 14, Team Dot/Dan had raised an impressive $3,956.06, according to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life website. That makes it the ninth highest fundraising team out of a total of 149 teams.
The team hit it’s original goal of $3,000 in March and doubled-down, pumping its new goal up to $5,000. Although donations have slowed in the past month, the team has one fundraiser slated for the coming weeks.
That will take place at the 2015 Nitro National Pro Hillclimb June 19 and 20th where team members will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets for some signed helmets, as well as luminaries.
The team is comprised of names you might know, but faces most of the county likely sees on a regular basis. All are Columbus IGA employees and family members who have been personally touched by cancer. The team is named in memory of Chris Remond’s son, Dan Gladney, and Marko Fangsrud wife, Dorothy, both of whom passed away in the last year to cancer.
Captain Frankie Edwards is a cancer survivor herself and with Connie Green has been participating in the world-wide event for the past three years. This year’s theme is “Calling All Angels.”
Anyone interested in joining the group or for more information can call Edwards at (406)545-8216.
Receipts are available for all donations for tax purposes. Once the event is done, Edwards will receive a list from the American Cancer Society telling her exactly where the money went.
