Molester draws 100-year prison sentence for “conduct that is abhorrent”

Calling the sexual assault of a child under the age of 5 abhorrent, a judge last week sent a Columbus man to prison for at least 15 years.
Adam Cody Ferguson, 26, received a total sentence of 100 years. Seventy-five of those years were suspended, but also imposed was a parole eligibility restriction of 15 years. He also must complete phase 1 and phase 2 of the prison’s sexual offender treatment program before becoming eligible for parole.
Once released from custody, he will also be required to register as both a sexual and a violent offender with the state and has been designated as a Level 2 sexual offender, which means his risk to re-offend is moderate.
“The enormity of the offense here, Mr. Ferguson, is breathtaking,” said District Judge Blair Jones. “The level of damage done to these children is really not calculable.”
Before sentence was passed Ferguson read a letter in which he sought forgiveness from those he had harmed primarily so they are able to move forward with their lives.
“I don’t deserve it but I’m asking for it,” said Ferguson.
Under the terms of a plea agreement, Ferguson pleaded guilty to one felony count of sexual assault and one felony count of assault on a minor stemming from attacks that occurred in 2011 and 2012 involving two victims - one whom he sexually abused and one whom he physically abused by repeatedly striking the child, according to court documents.
Jones said the sentence protects society, holds the offender accountable, provides for treatment and serves as punishment.
