Mark Crago grabs commission seat
Mark Crago won the three-way June 7 Republican primary race for Stillwater County Commissioner District 2 with 44 percent of the votes cast.
With no Democrats filing for the seat, Crago will step in to replace Gerald Dell in January. Dell decided not to run again.
According to unofficial results from the Montana Secretary of State’s office, with all precincts reporting, Crago garnered 965 votes to Wes House’s 697 and Marta Gauthier’s 486.
“I’m quite pleased,” Crago said. “It turned out the way I hoped. I look forward to serving the county and the community in the near future. I appreciate all the support I received.”
House won the Reed Point and Rapelje precincts, while Crago won the rest, including Columbus with 50 percent of the votes cast and Park City with 41 percent.
The race in Absarokee was closest, with Crago taking 37 percent of the votes, Gauthier taking 35 percent and House taking 27 percent.
Turnout in Stillwater County was 51 percent, with 2,910 votes cast out of 5,653 registered voters, including 2,267 Republican ballots and 643 Democratic.
Incumbent Republican Clerk of District Court Sandy Fox ran unopposed and received 2,013 votes.
