Open invitation to participate in World Day of Prayer

I would like to invite everyone to join us in the prayer service observing World Day of Prayer. Women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions will be celebrating World Day of Prayer on March 3, 2017. This year the time is 5 p.m. instead of the traditional 10 a.m. We hope that this will enable more people to join us in observing prayer for the women of the Philippines. This year the women of the Philippines invite us to join them.
World Day of Prayer is a worldwide Ecumenical movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March. This was founded on the idea that prayer and action are inseparable in the service of God’s kingdom. The offering helps support families in the Philippines. Informed prayer leads to prayerful action to transcend religious and cultural differences to build a common ground to empower change in communities. World Day of Prayer promotes justice and equality for women thru prayer, partnerships, service and celebration. Consider the words “Am I being unfair to you.” in an economic sense. Matthew 20:1-16 the parable of the laborers in the vineyard. In other countries women are often underpaid or not paid for their services. Much employment is in domestic labor to support their families.
Please join us at 5 p.m. on March 3 at St. James Lutheran Church located at 205 East 1st Avenue North in Columbus.
