Lindleys

Arvid was born in Billings, Mont., to Joseph and Alice Bonner Lindley on May 31, 1929.
Sunny was born in Columbus on March 14, 1930, to William and Ruth Flemming Gates. They met at Westmar College in Iowa and were married in Columbus on New Year’s Day 1951. They had a daughter Sheryl and a son, Paul.
After Arvid attended Western Evangelical Seminary in Oregon, he and Sunny pastored EUB churches in Rapelje, Reed Point and Big Timber. They pastored churches in Missoula, Mont., Portland and Liberal, Ore. The ministry also led them to Hillcrest Christian College in Canada and World Gospel Ministries in California.
Dad passed away on Nov. 19, 2015, and Mom passed on Jan. 16, 2016.
Survivors include Arvid’s sisters Alta (Jim) Scholten of Big Timber, Nancy (David) Matt of Indiana, Sunny’s sisters Mildred Jackson of Boise, Idaho, Clara Fox and Edith Riemann of Billings, brother Carl Gates of Columbus, daughter Sheryl Lindley of Portland, Ore., Paul and Bev Lindley of Nye. They also leave behind grandchildren Andrew and Clementine Lindley (Billings), Jonathan and Shauntel Lindley (Portland), Amy and Tim Loomis (Portland) as well as six step grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
A celebration of their life and ministry will be held Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m. in the Columbus Evangelical Church.
