10 rules of respect

Recently I attended The Leadership Summit along with 400,000 others around the world. Bill Hybels shared “10 Rules of Respect” and I thought it might be beneficial to pass them on, especially in the divisive times we find ourselves living in.
•Rule No. 1: Differ with others without demonizing them.
•Rule No. 2: Have spirited conversations without drawing blood.
•Rule No. 3: Do not interrupt others to dominate the conversation.
•Rule No. 4: Lower volume levels while refusing to use incendiary or belittling words.
•Rule No. 5: Be courteous in word and deed to everyone at every level.
•Rule No. 6: Avoid stereotyping.
•Rule No. 7: Apologize immediately when wrong.
•Rule No. 8: Form opinions carefully (stay open-minded if better information comes along).
•Rule No. 9: Show up when you said you would and do what you said you would.
•Rule No. 10: Set “Rules of Respect” in your spheres and enforce them relentlessly.
