My Valentine - but only for a little while

She’s my valentine. God’s gift for me and what an amazing gift! I love everything about her. Her laugh, her captivating heart, her curves, her smarts, her love for Jesus. Everything! I think she’s perfect and what I think matters. I’ve made my decision - I love her and I would lay down my life for her.
She’s my valentine - but only for a little while. Disagree? That’s okay, but read Matthew 22:30. There‘s no marriage in heaven.
First, she was God’s. He knit her together in her mother’s womb. She was fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13-14). He knew her name before she was born. He knows the number of hairs on her head. He even knows her thoughts. She is His!
Then, she was her parents’, but only for a little while. On loan from God. Disagree? That’s okay, but parents don’t get to keep their kids forever. Ask Russells, or Mandevilles, or DeBruyckers or many others. Some parents share their kids early with God, others put their kid’s hand into the hand of someone else’s kid. What an amazing gift!
After her parents, she’s mine, but only for a little while. In the end and for eternity, she will again be God’s.
And so, knowing this, I cherish her even more. Our time is precious and our time is limited so we must try to make the most of every moment. Letting our love cool off is unacceptable. We try to apply Ephesians 5:21-33. We remember we need each other and we remind ourselves often of the gift we have been given, because before you know it, time’s up. Ask Kienitzs or VanOostens or many others.
She’s my valentine, but only for a little while.
