Pastor Jay Forseth

We are rich!

If you are a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, a “believer” in God, THEN you have been granted a whopping inheritance as a precious child of the most high God.
We are rich, baby!
What do I mean by that? First of all, Christians will inherit eternal life (John 3:16, of course). I remind you eternity is a long, long, long, long time.
Secondly, and this is a big one — we are joint heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:17). We have been permanently adopted into God’s family, with all the rights and responsibilities, with equal shares in the everlasting inheritance.
Our new forever family comes with a massive inheritance. That’s right, we are rich!
Charles Spurgeon says we have been granted “a Divine portion” as an inheritance.
Some people think only the firstborn male has a right to an inheritance, others wrongly think that only God’s chosen people from Israel are the rightful heirs.
Actually, we gentile Christians have been “grafted” into God’s family tree (Romans 11) like an olive branch is grafted into the nourishment of the solid tree trunk.
Feeling poor lately? Or lonely? An addiction crushing you? Feeling downtrodden politically? Depressed? Please ponder the fact that you’ve been granted victory in Christ Jesus.
Take hold of that victory. Like my high school cheerleaders used to spell out “V-I-C-T-O-R-Y”! Be encouraged because we are rich, indeed! (Exodus 15:1-2).
