Local law enforcement appreciative of support

Within the first hours of President Trump taking office, he had posted a letter of support to the nation’s law enforcement community on the White House website. That reminded me once again of the level of positive support that we enjoy in Stillwater County.
This is in stark contrast of the continuing issues plagued by other agencies throughout the country. Some of the negative views of national law enforcement are justified, but the majority are fueled by the national media and groups with personal agendas.
I would like to take a moment to thank our local residents for the level of support that we receive. Every week members of our office tell me about someone telling them “thank you for what you do” or letting them know they appreciated something that they did.
It does not go unnoticed, and it makes all of our staff grateful to work here.
All of our deputies have strong community ties. Many, myself included, are multi-generational residents who feel blessed to be able to work in the county where we grew up. It makes the work that we do that much more important to us.
From time to time in the future, I will be writing a short column on issues that concern our county.
They may include information about community safety issues, upcoming events, or patterns that we are seeing in recent calls for service.
I encourage anyone with topics that they would like to see addressed to send me an email or call me at the office. I will try to include topics of general community interest in an upcoming article.
Once again, thank you for your continued support. Please know that everyone at our office appreciates it.
