Man dies in Molt after apparent fall from cliff
An investigation is underway into the death of a man believed to have been killed in a fall from a cliff in the Molt area either late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
The Stillwater County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue crews were called to a home in the Canyon Creek area at approximately 8 a.m. Thursday morning, April 5, on a report of a man who had left the residence and not returned, said Stillwater County Undersheriff Chip Kem.
The 140-acre property is located in “very rough terrain” and the man’s body was found shortly after noon.
“He was deceased from an apparent fall from a cliff near the residence. Hazardous conditions in the area may have contributed to the fall,” said Kem.
The victim was a California man who was in the area visiting family.
No foul play is suspected at this time. An autopsy is scheduled.
