Big rock, small road

A giant boulder created a bit of a road hazard Tuesday morning on Highway 10, west of Columbus.
The Stillwater County Sheriff’s Office was called shortly after 7 a.m. regarding a report of a large boulder on the north shoulder of the highway. In short order, the Montana Department of Transportation (DOT) crews were on scene to set up orange cones alerting motorists to the boulder and debris.
DOT crews broke the boulder into smaller pieces and cleared the debris from the road by 2:49 p.m. DOT planned to return to the location Wednesday and remove all of the pieces.
